Why the Gospel according Oprah is not a Gospel at all!
by Harley Pinon
What's wrong with the "Gospel" according to Oprah? Well, the answer is very simple: It isn't a gospel! The gospel is the good news! It is the "the power of God unto salvation." (Romans 1:16).
Paul said, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek." (Rom 1:16 NKJV) The problem is not a new problem. Listen to the words of the apostle Paul as he wrote to the churches of Galatia, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: {7} Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. {8} But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. {9} As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Gal 1:6-9 KJV)
I think the warning of Jude is very much to the point in this case: "Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. {4} For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. {5} But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe." (Jude 1:3-5 NKJV) Oprah says she was once a Baptist, but rejected the faith she once had because she rejected a God Who says he is Jealous God.
Why don't we look at what the Bible says about God being a jealous God. "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; {5} you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me," (Exo 20:4-5 NKJV) The Bible sometimes uses the expression "hate" to simply denote loving something or someone less than something else. For example, Jesus said "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple." (Luke 14:26 NKJV) Jesus was not telling us to hate our wives. He was saying we must love them less that we love Him and our heavenly Father. In a similar way, God was telling Israel that they must love Him, and in this case, they should have hated the false gods of the nations around them. Too many times, they did not, and it got them in trouble. They made the golden calf when Moses was on Mt. Sinai for forty days and forty nights. Later, many of them sacrificed their children in the fire to the heathen God Moloch. Yes, God is a jealous God! I'm glad He is. I don't think of myself as a jealous husband because I have never had any reason to even question my wife's faithfulness, but I'm confident I would be very jealous if I ever so much as questioned her faithfulness. That's what God was talking about! He wanted His children to be faithful to Him, and not to question Him. Question Him, and realistically reject Him, is what Oprah has done.
Hear these words: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" To this Oprah says, "There are many ways to God." Who will you trust with your eternity: Jesus Christ, Who loved you and died for you on the cross, or Oprah who obviously knows very little about the true meaning of the Bible?
The Gospel of the Bible is
The power of God unto salvation
Delivered once for all -- There is nothing to be added!
States that there is not another gospel
States that Jesus Christ is the Only way to God.

Oprah's doctrine is a dangerous doctrine to put it very mildly. Paul stated it much more emphatically: Gal 6:1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Peter put it this way: (Acts 4:12 NKJV) "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
