Updates on Lila

On June 11, 2009 I was in the office of Stewart Title in Cleburne.  I told Lori that my sister, Lila had cancer and that I had put an article on my web site that she wrote in the middle of the night after she was told she had cancer.  Lori, said, "Well, I'll sure keep her in my prayers."  Then she asked a question:  "Are you going to post updates on your website?"  I said, I hadn't thought of that, but that's a good idea.

Lori is a dear lady.  She recently lost her youngest son who was 17 in a car accident involving a young lady about his age.  It was totally her fault.  She suffered mentally in a terrible way, but, of course, that didn't really ease the terrible loss that Lori and her husband experienced.  Now to her suggestion for Lila:  the updates:

She is now out of the hospital and glad to be home.  She seems to be feeling better.  She said she believed the tumor had already begun to shrink as she was feeling some relief from the pressure.  She is scheduled to go back for another treatment in three weeks.  She is thanking everyone for their prayers.

Lila was in the Denver airport, going through security, and was on her way to Dallas to stay with us until Monday.  She lost her balance trying to put her shoe back on, and fell.  She broke her wrist trying to catch herself.  She is trying to get out of Denver at 5:30 p.m.

Lila has been taken to the hospital and was going to be put in intensive care later this evening.  Her sugar level was above 800 and at one point, her pulse dropped to just under 40.  We also spoke with her husband David at the hospital.  She was awake and seemed to be doing some better, but keep her in your prayers.

Lila is now in a rehab facility to gain strength.  She hopes to be able to go home on Tuesday and just check in for two therapy sessions each day.

July 31

Call to David

Lila began feeling bad after going to her therapy today.  She was taken to the hospital and is in intensive care with a ventilator.   She has fluid on her lungs which is a concern, but they think they can treat it.  She is currently in serious to critical condition.  Her kids that were not in Midland are headed that way.

August 2--4p.m. Call from my sister Alma Lila is doing better.  Ventilator has been removed.  They think the crisis has passed for the moment at least.  Thanks for all your prayers.
August 7 Call from my sister Alma Lila is going to get to go home from the hospital.
September 3 Call from Lila Scan of her neck region showed no cancer.  It may all be gone.  Further tests will be done next week, but right not things are looking very good.
