Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!

By Harley Pinon

(Psa 139:14 NKJV) I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

The Systems God created.

I'm not a doctor nor a scientist, but I'm sharing this with you because you don't have to have special qualifications to think with me as to why there must be a God!  Evolution, or a Godless existence is not believable when you really stop and think about it.  Think with me about the systems that it takes for us to live.  Is it possible that all of these came about without a Designer?

The Digestive System

Without our digestive system we would die.  Think about how very complex our systems are.  When we eat, some of our food begins to be digested in our mouths.  Food begins serious digestion in the stomach.  Think of the balance!  How long can you watch TV without a commercial about your digestive system?  Ant-acids seem to be a "cure" for many problems, but why do we have acid, and where does it come from?  Again, we have it to digest our food, especially meat, but where does it come from?  Think of all the digestive juices that the body produces!  Is it possible that it all "just evolved"?  It is then moved on by a system of muscles into the small intestine where the nutrients are picked up by the blood and the circulatory system.  Our food and drink is processed so that the nutrients are used for energy and the rebuilding of the human body in all it's parts and the waste is eliminated by the kidneys and intestines with the aid of the liver.

Circulatory System

What  do you think of when you think of the circulatory system?  Heart, blood, arteries, veins, valves, and capillaries!  It takes all of these, but do we understand how critical all of these are?  I have an artificial aortic valve because my aorta dissected on March 4, 1998.  My valve was replaced with a neat stainless steel valve.  I'm sure it's the best man can make.  Six years later, calcium is building up on the valve.  It is no longer 100% efficient.  A doctor, or team of doctors developed my valve, but it will not work as well as the one God gave me.  Mine was damaged I was told and had to be replaced.  How did a great valve just happen when man cannot design one that will do as well?

To keep my artificial valve from sticking, I take blood thinner every day.  I often refer to it as "rat poison."  I asked one doctor if that's what it was, and he said, "Yes."  How does it all work?  God made our blood such that it flows through the capillaries which have walls so thin that the oxygen and nutrients pass through, but the blood doesn't--that is unless the blood is tampered with.  If the blood is thinned too much, it passes through the capillaries, and if too much passes through, we die.  That's why it can be used to kill rats.  God is the one Who made our bodies with such marvelous balance.  I wore hard contacts before my surgery and had no problems, but after surgery and the blood thinner, I often ruptured blood vessels in my eyes, and I stopped wearing contacts.

My heart was stopped for 18 minutes for my surgery, but without the aid of a heart/lung machine to keep my blood circulating, I would have been brain dead.

The Respiratory System

Breathing!  Seems simple enough doesn't it?  Tell that to an asthma patient!  Tell that to someone's whose friend has drowned!  Tell that to someone with pneumonia!  How about something simple by comparison: hay fever!  My ear nose and throat doctor told me that I had damaged my lungs simply from breathing through my mouth.  God made the nose so that it moistens the air before it reaches the delicate lungs.  The unbelievers tell us we are to suppose that we just evolved!  I didn't know that the nose was that essential to help protect the lungs, how did I "accidentally" get a nose that moistens the air for my lungs?

As we've already noted.  If you don't breath, you die!

What Can You Take Away?

Which of these systems could you take a month or two to develop?  Which of these can you develop later?  Obviously, all of these are essential, and all at the same time if we are going to live, but there are other systems.

What about the Skeleton & Muscles?

Without our skeletal and muscular system, we would all be invalids.  We'd be unable to move, work, or even feed ourselves.  The complexity of these systems is obvious when problems such as multiple sclerosis, or osteoporosis develop.  Think about it, and then join me in exclaiming with the Psalmist, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well." (Psa 139:14 NKJV)

A Reproductive System

Every living creature has to have some way to reproduce.  How long do you have to "evolve" a reproductive system?  I think it's pretty obvious that you only have one life time to produce a reproductive system, or that form of life will die.

And the List Goes On:

We could go on and on, but let me leave part of this to you.  Think of the complexity of the following systems which we have discussed:

How Do You Explain Evolution?

There is an explanation for those who teach the theory of evolution.  (Psa 14:1 NKJV) 'The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.'  They do want to retain God in their knowledge.  (Rom 1:20-25 NKJV) For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, {21} because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. {22} Professing to be wise, they became fools, {23} and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man; and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. {24} Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, {25} who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Words of a Former Atheist!

I have heard John Clayton speak.  He is a former atheist.  He tells why he was an atheist, and why he left.  He tells of how he read the Bible because he wanted to find all the errors, and all the "foolishness" that was in it.  Instead, he because a Christian and goes around the country making his presentations, "Does God Exist."  He has much information on his web site:  Does God Exist
