Christian Modesty

Inspired by Becky Rene's Lesson on "Dressing Modestly"

Now gather 'round me girls, and I'll tell you what I see

About the things you're wearin' that you really shouldn't be.

If you say you are a Christian, and you want to do what's right,

Then, tell me why you're dressin' like the ladies of the night.

The Lord has plainly said that we are children of the day,

So why, then, are you wearin' clothes that look the other way.

Look up the word for modesty and see what's written there,

Then compare with what you're wearin' if you really, truly care.

"Sexy" is the kind of word the world just loves to flaunt,

But to the Christian lady those are looks we should not want.

When a girl is showin' off what she really should conceal,

There's a subtle invitation, some men take as if for real.

So if you're not intendin' in the choice of clothes you buy

To attract the wrong attention and the wrong kind of guy,

You really should consider what your clothes may advertise,

And pick the modest kind of clothes – discrete and chaste and wise.

When the godly kind of man observes your  preference in clothes,

If you're wearin' tight and scanty things that too much you disclose,

He may decide to look away, to find a godly wife

Who honors God in what she wears and suits a Christian life.

The girl whose mind is on the Lord will take this with good cheer

That someone really cares enough to tell her to steer clear

Of invitin' men's attention just to focus on her bod,

And, rather, being sure to keep her heart and soul for God.
