Beyond the Night
There's an enemy of our souls
Who comes to cheat, steal, and destroy
He is the father of all lies
Who'll try to take away our joy.
Let not this enemy of ours
Succeed in luring you away
From future treasures, not yet seen;
Don't dwell on that which now holds sway.
He tries to take your faith and peace
By things that now cause pain and doubt.
He'll cause you to forget God's words
That tell us what this life's about.
Remember, though, this life's a test,
But painful things will not remain.
Because God has eternal plans
He'll help us through the times of strain.
Our trials seem long, but soon will pass.
Keep looking up, beyond your plight,
For God holds in His powerful hands
The gifts that quell the awful night.
